Hickmen have wrapped up recording their new CD
June 28, 2004
The Hickmen have wrapped up recording and mixing of their new CD, tentatively titled “California Dreaming.” It features a rare backing vocal track from Alan Waddington. A date has been set for mastering and then the only excuse the guys can come up with to delay things any longer will be the artwork. Look for a release date around the middle of August.
In other news, Rich, the owner of Highland Grounds, has agreed to have The Hickmen play every third Thursday of the month. Agreed is actually the wrong word: asked is the correct word. And it wasn’t the music that captivated him, nor the drinking habits of The Hickmen fan base (though that is a plus for Rich). No, it was the band’s punctuality that impressed him so. “Yeah, you guys are really… on time,” he nodded, “and I like that.”
Finn maintains that The Clash were noted for their punctuality as well.
So as far as upcoming Highland Grounds gigs go, the next will be Thursday, the 15th of July. This night will be all-acoustic (mostly because Alan is in Korea). Duke Graham at 8, Billy Sheets at 8:30, The Hickmen at 9, Paul Inman at 10.
In August, the date is the 19th. This may be a political fundraiser for Barbara Boxer’s campaign, and it may be the record release party, but it will be a rockin’ show.
Honest: check back here for MP3s soon.
