The Hickmen Complete California Dreamin’
August 09, 2004
Faced with overwhelming challenges that included legal actions, screaming preschoolers, poor musicianship, and the twin demons of sloth and melancholy, The Hickmen have none-the-less completed their second CD, titled California Dreamin’. The song titles and order on the CD are as follows:
- Hills of California
- Hungry City
- San Bernardino County Blues
- In A Fever
- Costco Socks
- Last Train Tonight
- Father Winter
- I Gotta Gun
- True Blue Red American
- Envy
- Let’s Remember This
The album will be available at the next Highland Grounds gig, Thursday, August 19 and will be available online here about a week later. To whet your appetites, three songs have been included here as MP3s.
Speaking of Highland Grounds, that night will feature some opeing act (Kyle Gladden? Cactus Automatic?) followed by Garrick Stoner, who contributed a fine solo set in July and has promised to bring a band with him this month, followed by The Hickmen with Paul Inman’s Delivery wrapping up the evening. Barbara Boxer’s people maybe around, but if so they aren’t getting dime out of the CD sales, let me tell you…
